ABOUT US

Mbonweh Women’s Development Association

The Mbonweh Women’s Development Association is a community-based, non-profit organization committed to empowering women, protecting vulnerable children, and strengthening communities across Cameroon. We exist to create opportunities where there were once limitations. We believe that when women are empowered, children are educated, and communities are supported, sustainable development becomes possible. Our work focuses on education, economic empowerment, peacebuilding, humanitarian assistance, and sustainable community development. We serve women, orphans, vulnerable children, youths, and indigenous populations who face social and economic challenges.

Our Goal

Equal justice and fair treatment for all people, regardless of gender.

Our Mission

To empower women, children, and vulnerable communities through education, skills development, advocacy, and sustainable livelihood initiatives that promote self-reliance and social inclusion.

Our Vision

A society where women and children live with dignity, equal opportunity, access to education, economic stability, and full participation in community development.
WHAT WE DO

Our Areas of Impact

Our work is organized into interconnected development pillars that address both immediate needs and structural inequalities.

Education and Skills Development

We promote girls’ education, support school enrollment, and implement literacy and life skills initiatives that enhance employability and entrepreneurship opportunities for women and youth.

Women’s Economic Empowerment

We provide vocational training, entrepreneurship development, financial literacy education, and access to microcredit support. Our programs enable women to generate sustainable income, build assets, and achieve long-term economic security.

Health and Wellbeing

We conduct community health education on reproductive health, maternal health, family planning, and HIV prevention, while facilitating access to essential healthcare services through referral networks and partnerships.

Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Response

We implement awareness campaigns, community dialogues, and survivor support pathways to prevent violence and strengthen protective systems within communities.

Community Advocacy and Leadership

We engage local authorities and community stakeholders to promote inclusive governance while strengthening women’s leadership and civic participation.

Our Impact at a Glance

Since our inception, Mbonweh Women Development Association has reached vulnerable women, children, and families across communities in Cameroon through integrated development initiatives focused on empowerment, protection, and resilience.
Over the years, we have supported hundreds of women to build sustainable livelihoods through vocational training and micro-enterprise development initiatives. Our education programs have enabled vulnerable children, particularly girls, to access school enrollment support, literacy development, and essential learning materials.
Through community health education campaigns, we have increased awareness of reproductive health, maternal health, and HIV prevention, contributing to improved health-seeking behavior among women and families. Our gender-based violence prevention programs have engaged community leaders, men, and women in dialogue to promote safer, more equitable communities.
We continue to expand our reach and strengthen measurable outcomes across all program areas.

OUR STORY

Mbonweh Women’s Development Association was founded in response to the growing social and economic inequalities affecting women and children in underserved communities. Many families face poverty, limited access to education, unemployment, and the effects of social instability.

What began as a grassroots initiative driven by compassion and community responsibility has grown into a structured organization delivering targeted programs that address real needs. From supporting children to stay in school to helping women build sustainable livelihoods, our journey has been shaped by resilience, collaboration, and impact.

We are rooted in the belief that local solutions, driven by local leadership, create lasting transformation.
